The Seven Best Marketing Research Blogs

I’ve been blogging since 2001. It’ll be 20 years this June. (Can you believe it? Here’s my first ever blog post.) I can even remember Evan giving me a Blogger T-shirt out of the trunk of his car while parked on the streets of San Francisco. More recently, much of my online activity has migrated to social media and my email newsletter—you can learn more about my emerging personal media model here—but I’ve been trying to blog more actively lately. And I’ve been trying to blog with more professional intent and purpose.

Regardless, I am woefully unaware of the state of blogging or social media in terms of marketing research and marketing researchers. I’ve kept both practices (my professional work and my online activity) relatively separate over the years somehow. And I’d like to learn more about who’s worth following and reading. We’ll start with marketing research bloggers.

Here are what I currently consider the seven best marketing research blogs:

Class Action II

I just received an email from a student who's registered to take this spring's NYU class Enter the Blogosphere. While I've yet to confirm that there are enough students registered for it to be a go, things look heartening.

It's not too late; if you're interested in taking a 10-session media studies course focusing on blogs and blogging, check out last time's class blog to check out the syllabus, reading list, and other reportage on the course.

And please consider signing up! Should be a great class.

Blogging About Blogging LXXXV

Please don't mistake this little outburst of posts as an active return to blogging. I'm still not sure what direction I want to take Media Diet, whether I want to revisit the kinds of posts I'd been doing before my summer "vacation," or whether I want to turn this into a "clog" (column blog) like Randall Rothenberg and Scott Donaton.

The fact that I'm taking cues from those two gents might show where my head's at, but we'll see what happens.

One thing I do know is that Media Diet's design needs a refresh. I've been using the same Blogger template since launch and could use some help updating the look and feel of my blog. If any Media Dieticians would like to volunteer to redo my template, please email me, and we can discuss particulars.

Thanks for reading all these years, and thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Class Inaction

Due to low enrollment, my NYU course, Enter the Blogosphere, has been canceled. Sadness!

We'll see if I can get back on the teaching tip next semester.
