According to the
New York Daily News, the historic Greenwich Village cabaret, the
Bottom Line, has been ordered to
shut down. For about 30 years, the night spot has featured such musicians as Dr. John, Bruce Springsteen, and Christine Lavin. Now the club owners have been required to shut up shop. Their landlord, New York University, wanted to raise their monthly rent from $11,250 to $27,000 -- and has sued for almost $200,000 in back rent.
